Sonoma County Women's History

The stories of women involved in the contemporary women's movement as it played out in Sonoma County from 1960 to 1985 is the subject of a new exhibit at the Sonoma State University Library Art Gallery from August 15-September 28, 2007.

We're open! And we have a blog!

(posted by Mary on behalf of Dr. Jolly)

Our exhibit is open! After many months of interviewing and gathering data, and many (!) hours of processing data, designing, and installing the gallery, "A Fine and Long Tradition" opened August 16. There are a few more elements that we will be adding over the next few weeks, so if you stop by more than once, you may see changes.

Meanwhile, we've also begun this blog. Here I hope that we will have several threads of discussion, including updates on events and changes to the gallery, information on the project and its future direction, a discussion of the challenges of doing oral history, questions I hope people will discuss about feminism in Sonoma County and about being a student researcher, and more. I hope you will feel free to send your own questions and also new information about the women's movement in Sonoma County. We'll collect all the information and use it as we move forward with the larger project.

Tomorrow: how we got here... and who are "we".
